NIWC Pacific.

Two years at the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific shipping production systems for the Department of Defense. The work spanned C++ imagery pipelines, C# vessel-tracking, and AWS automation. I held a Secret clearance (now inactive, eligible for reinstatement).

Problem

  • Aerial and submarine imagery had to be processed quickly and reliably enough for downstream operators to make threat-assessment decisions.
  • Legacy deployment workflows were manual and error-prone; AIS data was high-volume and needed real-time visualization.

Approach

  • Engineered C++ applications to process aerial and submarine imagery with detection algorithms that improved threat-assessment speed and accuracy.
  • Built a server-side AIS parser in C# for high-volume vessel tracking, with protocol decoding and real-time visualization.
  • Wrote Python automation (Boto3) to deploy containerized services to AWS ECS, cutting deployment workload by 40% and modernizing the legacy manual workflow.
  • Restructured core middleware routing on a real-time monitoring system to improve responsiveness and fault tolerance.

What shipped

  • Production C++ imagery detection pipeline.
  • Real-time AIS vessel-tracking parser in C#.
  • AWS ECS deployment automation (40% workload reduction).
  • Selected for the 2024 Techboard (top 1% of personnel) to advise leadership on CI/CD strategy.

What's next

  • Carrying the same shipping discipline into customer-facing product work.
